"MONOLITH" is my first full fledged release as thatdjentguy that was the cultivation of my tireless efforts over the past 10 months. This album is in dedication to all those in my life who have inspired and pushed me to do some of the best work I have ever produced. You know who you are, I love you. <3
BACKSTORY: Set a few thousand years in the future, colonists of new earth find themselves thriving amongst the most vivid and beautiful landscapes as the earth has repaired its environment and provides a harmonious habitat for the future of mankind. One fateful day from the heavens above came an omnipotent power that would for the next 7 years change the face of the planet and force an extinction upon all of mankind. These super powerful, almost demi-god like beings thought to be from a distant galaxy sought out this planet for its rich energy and to enslave the human race for all its resources. They began by placing giant Monoliths of extraterrestrial material and origin to absorb and strip the earth of all its colour and energy. Most of earth was devoid of colour or life wherever these Monoliths of power were placed and the race of humans slowly dwindled over the course of nearly a decade until all that once was, remained no more. The demi-god like beings took all there ever was, and left a hollow grave of a once prosperous people. The resiliency of earth allowed for an incredible rebirth over the course of a few hundred years and the land returned more brilliant and flourished more beautifully than it ever had. Paved over the times of old, the new life prospered over top of cavernous ruins and caves littered with defunct Monoliths and fossilized bodies of the ancients. These are the stories of the Monoliths, and they continue to unfold as a warning and a celebration of life for the future of mankind.
